Why I give...Imogene and Lynn Davis

Lynn and Imogene Davis

Lynn and Imogene DavisIf you visited the library on a Wednesday or Saturday morning between 1997 and 2015, a dedicated library volunteer, Imogene Davis, likely greeted you. After Imogene retired from the State Department of Transportation where she worked her entire career, her love of reading brought her to volunteer her time at the library. Imogene loved volunteering at the library's information desk and the Friends of the Library annual book sale. According to library volunteer coordinator, Kari Zimmerman, “The library became a part of her life. Imogene could always be counted on to help out with anything the library needed”. When Imogene became ill in the fall of 2015 and was no longer able to keep a regular schedule volunteering at the library, her love for the library didn't stop. She made her husband of 58 years, Lynn, promise to donate to the library in her name. Lynn kept his word and honored Imogene’s wishes by giving a generous donation to support the library Imogene loved and dedicated her time. Unfortunately, Imogene passed away on April 21, 2016, at the age of 79. Imogene made a lasting impact on library staff and patrons. Her absence from the information desk on Wednesday and Saturday mornings is noticed. Patrons may not have known her by name, but they knew they could count on her friendly and welcoming greeting. We are honored Imogene committed 18 years of dedicated service to TSCPL.
