Foundation leader leaves after two successful years

Thank you for being an integral part of The Library Foundation and the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library. We are ever so grateful for your contributions and support.

We have had an amazing couple of years even with the challenges around us.

Over the past 25 months, Erin Aldridge has led The Library Foundation through a number of those challenges. She has worked diligently with The Library Foundation’s Board of Trustees and the library staff to ensure it thrives for many years to come.

We are saddened to announce she is leaving The Library Foundation for another amazing opportunity in our community. We can not thank her enough for the work she has done to move The Library Foundation forward with positive momentum.

"It has been a pleasure and honor to serve the Topeka Community as Executive Director of The Library Foundation," says Aldridge. "I am proud of the growth and collaboration the Foundation has had under my leadership and know that it will continue in good hands with the strong relationship The Library Foundation Board of Trustees has with the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library."

In her absence, we want you to be assured The Library Foundation will continue to move forward with the momentum that has been built. This fall we will launch into an Executive Director search. It will be business as usual as Janel DeLeye, Development Professional, handles the day to day activities of the organization. Foundation board members will continue to be actively engaged and TSCPL CEO Marie Pyko is working with Janel to assist when needed.

As we look to the future we want to share with you some exciting things that are happening:

  • The Level 2 Tech Center is OPEN. This amazing space will allow anyone in our community to create, learn and grow with today’s technology. This project was made possible through funds from the Library’s general budget and contributions from The Library Foundation.
  • Shades of Greatness: Art Inspired by Negro Leagues Baseball is coming to the Alice C. Sabatini Art Gallery in February 2023. This traveling exhibit is made possible through The Library Foundation’s funds from the NEH Grant.
  • The strategic planning process of the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library has begun. Soon we will be requesting much needed input and advice from you, our donors, patrons and community as whole. YOU get to help shape the future of your library.

If you need anything or have any questions, we encourage you to reach out to Janel DeLeye, Foundation@TSCPL.org or by phone 785-580-4498. If your question is more Library in nature we encourage you to contact CEO Marie Pyko at 785-580-4480.

Thank you again for EVERYTHING you do to ensure our community has a world-class library,
