New Officers for The Library Foundation
The Library Foundation announces its officers for 2015. They include: Becky Holmquist, chair; Dr. Steve Tempero, chair-elect; and Joel Oliver, treasurer.
Joel Oliver, Julie Schloetzer, and Becky Holmquist were elected to a second three-year term. Marilyn Ward and Marsha Sheahan were elected to their first three-year term.
Marilyn Ward is retired as Executive Director of ERC Resource & Referral, now Child Care Aware of Eastern Kansas. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Capitol Federal® Savings and Chair of the Audit Committee. Ward is a sustaining member of Junior League of Topeka, member of the Stormont-Vail Hospital Auxiliary Group 8, Member of PEO Chapter EP and has been a member of the Kansas Children’s Service League Board of Directors. She is married to Howard Ward, MD and they have two children and four grandchildren.
Marsha Sheahan has served more than 35 years with the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce. She has directed the Leadership Greater Topeka program since its inception in 1984, championed the start-up of Fast Forward, the Chamber’s young professional program and worked with Heartland Visioning since 2008. Sheahan served as president of the Junior League of Topeka, the Public Relations Society of Topeka and was the first board chair of the Topeka Community Foundation. She is married to Bill Sheahan, a Topeka architect, and they have three children.
Other trustees serving in 2015 include: Mark Baker, Rich Hayse, Marianna Nothern, Bob Parman, Julie Schloetzer, Jeanne Slusher, Judi Stork and Roger Underwood.
The Library Foundation’s purpose is to help secure resources that support the collections, programs, services, technology and physical facilities of the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library. The Foundation pursues this purpose by seeking philanthropic support, providing conscientious stewardship of the assets in its care, encouraging appropriate community partnerships, and advocating on behalf of the library’s mission.
