Have you heard? The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library won 2016 Library of the Year! From more than 9,595 public libraries in the United State and Canada, we were selected #1 because we “demonstrate creativity, innovation, leadership and outstanding service to our community”. It is because of your support we have been able to make a difference in our community. As the 2016 Library of the Year, the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library was the cover story in the June 15th issue of Library Journal. Library Journal sees a lot of applications every year. Ours told a story about how we work to build community - through partnerships, facilitation and relationships. This honor will resonate for a lifetime.
