2016 Library Foundation Trustees
The Library Foundation announces its officers for 2016. They include: Becky Holmquist, chair; Judi Stork, chair-elect; and Joel Oliver, treasurer.
Steve Tempero and Rich Hayse were elected to a second three-year term. Dr. Brenda Dietrich was elected to her first three-year term.
Brenda recently retired as Superintendent of the Auburn-Washburn School District. She was a school superintendent for 19 years, serving the Auburn-Washburn District since 2001. Brenda was named the 2007 Kansas Superintendent of the Year by Kansas Association of School Administrators and was one of four finalists for National Superintendent of the Year.
Brenda is actively engaged in professional activities throughout the state. She is a past Chair of the Board of Leadership Kansas, served on the United Way of Greater Topeka Board, Family Service and Guidance Center, KS Advisory Board for Juvenile Justice, Junior Achievement, United School Administrators and the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce. She served on the AASA Governing Board and is a past president of the Kansas School Superintendent’s Association. She is currently on the board of the Jayhawk Council of Boy Scouts. Brenda was honored this past year as the Topeka ABWA 2015 Woman of Distinction and with the YWCA Women in Leadership Award.
Other trustees serving in 2016 include: Mark Baker, Marianna Nothern, Julie Schloetzer, Marsha Sheahan, Jeanne Slusher, Roger Underwood and Marilyn Ward.
The Library Foundation’s purpose is to help secure resources that support the collections, programs, services, technology and physical facilities of the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library. The Foundation pursues this purpose by seeking philanthropic support, providing conscientious stewardship of the assets in its care, encouraging appropriate community partnerships, and advocating on behalf of the library’s mission.
