The Library Foundation is partnering once again with the Friends of the Library to promote the gift of reading this holiday season. Help give Shawnee County kids books of their own by supporting Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which mails a book a month to kids (birth to age 5). Currently, the Imagination Library has a total enrollment of 5,742 or 52 percent of the 11,005 children under five years of age living in Shawnee County.
For a donation of $1 or more, you will be given an ornament to take home to hang. A $30 donation provides one child books for a year and in return you will receive “A gift of reading” ornament to keep. $150 provides one child five years of books and you will receive a handmade book-themed ornament as a keepsake. To get your ornament, stop by the Chandler Booktique in the Library.
